WHO WE ARE

The TLFFRA Education Foundation is a nonprofit corporation organized under the Texas Non Profit Corporation Act. This organization is formed for the purpose of educating fire fighter pension board members. Because serving on a pension board is often a secondary, voluntary duty for the individuals involved, educating board members on fiduciary responsibility, board management, and sound investment practices is crucial for the health of these pension funds. The goal of the non profit is to provide educational opportunities that may include annual statewide conferences, regional workshops, lectures, and other events as the board deems appropriate.

A Word from the Board of the TLFFRA Education Foundation

“A special note of thanks to all the vendors and supporters of the Texas Local Firefighters’ Retirement Act Education Foundation. We are so appreciative of your thoughts and prayers as our first responders have been working throughout Texas during these incredible flooding events. Many of you have reached out wanting to help Texans during this time.

The board members of the TLFFRA Education Foundation would like to offer these three entities that would benefit greatly from any support you would like to provide.”

The Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) was created by state statue in 2007. As of the time of writing, there are 259 personnel deployed through this program assisting in various capacities with the recent flooding events in Texas. Personnel have also been deployed to Southeast Texas in preparation for impending tropical weather impacts.

The people responding through TIFMAS are local government and volunteer firefighters working throughout the state and are deployed when Texas needs them with over 11,000 people documented in the system to assist on all-hazards incidents, such as the recent flooding, and close to 6,000 that specialize in wildland fire incidents.
